the Universe, or more accurately the Life of Energy.
The basic idea is that nowadays ideas, thoughts, these intangible things are unfortunately not seen as pure energy with great potential and thus have been negated at the expense of materialism. The mind is seldom brought into the equation, whether in scientific research, economic values, etc. Yet everything starts with an idea. The power of ideas to transform the world. That's in essence what the film is about.
Which is why I decided at some point that this had to be part one of the "Shamans series". A shaman is a medium, someone who travels through other realms to bring back knowledge to the people. Mindscape is part one, a documentary that places you in the point of view of an English shaman. Hints, leitmotifs and themes of the next two parts are visible. Part 2 is a drama

feature, planned on location in the South American jungle, where Native Indian shamans and African medicinemen are at the center. Their way of life, their incredible amount of knowledge and their unique outlook are close to extinction. Part 3 is a martial arts film. It will all be clear after part 3, but I'm not 100% ready yet for the challenge and other projects might come first. I have a rough idea of what is going to happen, but in the end you've only got the horizon to look out for, a map in your hands and a compass. Where the winds of life bring your ship cannot be predicted.

sm: Why did you choose the title "The Mindscape of Alan Moore"? I think it's a great one.

DZ: Well, I thought that travelling through somebody's mind, with it's intricate

workings, frame of reference, experiences and so on that ultimately could be called a "vision," is similar to the exploration of a landscape. At that time I hadn't read "Promethea" yet, thus it came as a surprise when I saw the eerie connections between the themes in this film and the literal description of these same themes in a literal landscape in Promethea. Also other elements in his work seemed to coincide with the structure in the film and the music. There was definitely an interesting common frequency going on. Good vibes.
Anyway, hence Mindscape. And that's what the film is, a journey through the landscape shaped by Alan Moore's imagination. For some that's quite a rough cerebral journey, so The Mindfuck of Alan Moore is what I personally call it.
