smoky man: This year will see the long awaited release (on March 17) of the V for Vendetta movie. The film production has been a bit controversial and in the comics community there has been a lot of discussion about how faithful the Wachowski Bros. adaptation will be to the original material, which is a true masterpiece of the medium.
I know that, in some ways, you were close and supportive to the production and have seen the final version of the movie. So first, how did you feel at the idea of your comics taking life on the big screen? And, most important, which are your genuine comments and feelings after seeing the film?

David Lloyd: It's a terrific piece of cinema from a good script.

My support for it began on seeing the script, although I was initially disappointed that it wasn't more faithful to the original. Larry and Andy Wachowski wrote a closer adaptation 8 years ago and I expected to see something similar. But in this version they clearly wanted to put their own mark on the story, and use it to make their own comments on the politics of the world now as myself and Alan did for the times in which we created it. I have no argument with them about doing this, because I had no reason to expect them to stay true to every panel of the original. They had the right to make the movie they wanted to. My only concern was that it be a good one - and I'm happy to support it, because it retains the spirit, the integrity and much of the political
